Rangers Beat Carterville 5-2 at Eovaldi Field

Benton's Gus Gibbs tossed a complete game and surrendered two runs, helping the Rangers beat visiting Carterville 5-2 at Eovaldi Field Tuesday. Gibbs threw just 80 pitches in seven innings of work. Both of Carterville's runs were earned.

Rangers get 7-2 victory at Hamilton County

The Benton Rangers scored four runs in the top of the first inning, sending eight batters to the plate in a 7-2 win over Hamilton County Wednesday.
Levi Pearce recorded the win for the Rangers. Pearce didn't surrender a run in 6 2/3 innings. Pearce surrendered seven hits and walked two while striking out four.

Head leads Benton over Herrin in Slugfest

Dakota Head hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning for his first game-winning hit and pitched a scoreless seventh to pick up his first save to lead Benton to a 10-8 come-from-behind victory over Herrin in a key SIRR Ohio Division baseball game Friday.

There probably isn’t a hotter prep baseball team in Southern Illinois than the Benton Rangers right now.

The squad has won 10 straight games and sits at 18-3 overall. Dakota Head and Martin Ward, both seniors, are putting up good numbers, like plenty of others on the team, for the Rangers this season.

MURPHYSBORO -- Martin Ward drove in the winning run as Benton completed a come-from-behind 4-3 extra innings win over Murphysboro in a baseball battle between the first and last teams in the SIRR Ohio Division Monday.
